Alhamdulillah, we're finally done with EOG16!
Ensemble of Gamelan (EoG) 2016 is an event that will be held to
commemorate the 14th year anniversary of the establishment of UTP
Gamelan Group, Sanggar Kirana. This is the fifth time of EOG being organised by Sanggar Kirana and UTP. The
main objectives of this proposed festival are to encourage and educate
university’s students as well as the public to appreciate Gamelan music from
around the world. Throughout the years, this event has served as a platform to
showcase the country’s diversity, colour and uniqueness through arts and
cultural activities.
The
event itself has attracted people from all walks of life to come to UTP for a
glimpse of what it was like to see gamelan as a traditional element brought to
life by students and gamelan community from all over Asia. Among the list of
teams that performed with us this year in EOG including Gemawan KISAS, Gamelan Buana INTEC, UKJGS UGM, Sri Warisan UNITEN Muadzam, Gamelan Slendro UKM, Gema Gamelan UNITEN Bangi, Badarsila (Alumni UTP, UIA and UNITEN), Gamelan UNISZA, Gasita UGM and Sanggar Kirana UTP.
This year EOG bring you the theme of royalty or 'Bangsawan' with a little influence of legendary love tales, Puteri Gunung Ledang. This really shown in the opening act with 'Overture' song featuring UPAG and intermission performance by Sanggar Kirana with 'Antara Selat' that combining gamelan performance with drama, love story, dance and singing. While, the closing performance Sanggar Kirana try something bold and fresh for gamelan ensemble entitled 'Gegar' by combining with hip-hop dance from Interbeatz Crew.

Our appreciation also goes to UTP Performing Arts Group (UPAG), our talented singers Yusreena and Fathi and also Interbeatz Crew. We had such a good time with you guys and hope all of us benefited from this collaboration 💜
